AT-AT Star Wars Bombox

February 24, 2009

For all the Star Wars fans every where (and music lovers who can work with a cassette player) remember that  AT-AT Walker. Well they’ve used that design and made it into a bombox. But your CD’s wont be used but cassette tapes will. This creative design is actually a custom piece. So you can’t find it anywhere. Don’t even think about buying it, I don’t think its for sale. Its just unknown. Hey, maybe you can use your creative juices and make your own. You might be able to do it.

DTV, What to look for!

February 18, 2009

Feb 17, 2009 was supposed to be the day when all analog TV broadcasting ceased, which means anyone who gets TV over the air would need to have a digital tuner by now. Otherwise, all you hear is the WHOOSH WHOOSH sound (dead air). But guess what there seems to be a second chance in the forecast. The cutoff date for all analog transmission was pushed back to June 12, not today Feb 17, giving everyone a few more months to get their converter box up and running. And if you still have the old rabbit ears that’s okay, here are some of the best converter boxes from the hundreds available.

What to look for:  1. The cheapest one is the Airlink 101, you can get a $40 government coupon, but shipping is $6.95. 2. The coolest looking is the GE23333. 3. The consumer reports favorite is the Zinwell ZAT-970A. 4. The reviews at CNet liked the RCA DTA800B1. 5. The most versatile yet expensive, ($300) is the Dish Network DTSPal DVR. 6. The cheapest TV to buy instead of a converter box is the Sansui DTV 1300, its only $95.78, and it has a digital tuner on board. 7. The cheapest HDTV to buy instead is the Magnavox  which is only $199.

DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!

A doctor from Tel Aviv University has come up with a way that a new laser, that the university has developed, is better than stitching up a patient. The laser allows a wound to be closed shut as opposed to stitched, which makes it more watertight and there’s less tearing. It’s done by very carefully controlling the temperature of the beam. Patients who have been treated this way enjoy the faster healing time and less scarring. Those of you who have gotten a really deep cut and have had stitches know that after it heals (can be a very long time) there is a hug scar left in its place. That’s not a pretty sight!! If you just so happen to need stitches again and you don’t want to go through that, another way would be to use the laser, faster recovery and less scar visibility.

Google has come up with a new program and so they are used to help map out the oceans for the latest version of their planet detailing. Working with the government and non-profit organizations , Google Earth 5.0 combines 3D sea floor landscape through pictures and videos. The cool part is that they’ve come upon the Shipwreck Central. This area is where there are abundant shipwrecks almost completely forgotten about.

Another cool added feature in Google Earth 5.0 includes: the ability to upload your own GPS system to make maps. And also the virtual tour of the Martian surface that lets you see a simulated version ofthe red planet. Talk about atmospherically interesting!!!!
