An Apple netbook??

January 28, 2009

Japanese photographer Isamu Sanada has put out a few examples of Apple products, and now he is going to try out the Apple netbook. Hes still figuring how the netbook might look like (his design I mean). People are hinting that it is long and thin and has one extra part, a tray that folds out with a touch pad on it. That is so cool, I don’t think they have ever attempted to do a fold-able touch panel.

People are in debate about how it should be. They think that the pad is amongst alot of wasted space, maybe it’d look better if the whole tray itself was touchable? Or maybe even getting rid of the tray all together and just making the computer display a touch screen?! That sounds really interesting, but people should decide on what they like.

Not only did two of our videos make the final cut but because of our age we made the High School category!  We are very proude of this. The videos from St. Elisabeth that made the cut are “The Caring Project” and “Fairness” (remember they are in the High School category so scroll down). So if you’d like fill out their survey or grade our our two videos. But please vote!!!!!!

You type in ‘Charactercounts.com’  into the URL box. When your on the website go to ‘vote for our cc video contest winner!’ Then click on Vote Now, read all the  instructions and vote for the two St. Elisabeth videos. But don’t forget to watch them. Each person can vote once for any of the videos, (but please vote for ours), so make sure everyone in your house votes along with your family and friends and all the people you know.

The assignment was to do a short video, no longer than 2 minutes, promoting one or more of the Six Pillars of Character. This was only the second video story we L.A. kids have made (other than the ‘What does it mean to be an American?’) Tell everyone you know. This is an amazing chance for our school. We ask that the Canadian kids from Snow Lake help us out. It would be so great if their whole school votes for us kids in L.A. The deadline is in February so vote fast!! Thank you!!!!

Who doesn’t like Scrabble? Well guess what? A keyboard made from real Scrabble playing pieces is the new way to play Scrabble. It actually works, its basically a regular USB keyboard with Scrabble titles on top of it. It’s Mac-compatible. It seems unimaginable for a keyboard like this to be fitting with a Mac. But a wood-paneled library? It can happen. They say the coolest part is that the builder, Richard Nagy, cut the titles so the LEDs shine through the lettering. Nagy is considering making this for the public, as long as Hasbro, the creator of Scrabble, doesn’t sue him for using the Scrabble name. Which I hope is unlikely.

In honor of a new Chapter in the American History I would like to dedicate this as the first blog in the new Era of our new Commander and Chief, the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack H. Constitution Opinion

January 14, 2009

I believe the Constitution is still with us today because after winning it’s Independence America needed to form a new government. The delegates and the four Fathers knew they had to come up with a government that would benefit the people, unlike the British who practically owned them. Because they new what they were getting into they came up with rules for the Americans and the people who come to America from the different countries with different cultures. They had to come up with something everybody is entitled to. No one wants just rules that say, do this, do that, like a dictator. People need something that they can have and have the right to have. For example, in the 1st Amendment, free speech and free press. But with those allowances come limits, you have the right to say anything you want but you can’t threaten someone. You have the right of free press but there has to some consent on what is written.

The Constitution lets us do as we want but through limits we all have to go by. America is one of the only countries that ha a Constitution specifically for the people who worked hard to make it what it is.

If you’ve seen the Star Trek movies then you’d know what Klingon is. I’ve never seen Star Trek before so for all those fans you probably might already know about this but if you don’t then keep reading, (its not that long.)

Well Klingon is a fake language they used in the Star Trek movies. With me not ever watching the movies, I saw the article and I thought it was interesting so I’m blogging about it. Well getting to the point, they are producing keyboards with Klingon symbols on it. So you  fans out there you can write things in this fake tongue. =) Plus it also connects with a PS/2 cable.

As they said on the article 99.999999999% of the world, we’ll stick to regular keyboards, and to you Klingon fans, you stick with the fake language.

Robotic rice planter

January 6, 2009

Have you ever head of a robot doing farm work, well its  happening in Japan. The National Agriculture and Food Research Orginization in Japan earned “The Robot Award 2008″ for its Robotic Rice Planter, can work a field on its own without human help. Right now Japan faces a zany labor crisis and their focus right now is on this robotic device.

Maybe you’re wondering how this gadget works, well the rice planter has a GPS to tell where it is, it can adjust its speed  and direction, keeping it on the field while doing a steady job. In the future, the NA and FR Organization is interested in having the farm-bot networked to consult with other equipment, so that a farm can be run entirely by robotic workers.
